What a turnout for the books. Metcheck, XC weather and Windguru were all wrong as they forecast barely 10 knots of wind the night before. BBC weathers shipping forecast got it wright with forecasting a force 5/6.
Played footy in the morning which was tiring to say the least. Rang Jo up to see if he was goin out as the trees were swayin at home so I thought there would be at least 15mph of wind.
Got there to meet the others and it was blowing at least 25knots on the beach and the sun was out. Conditions couldn't be any better.
Had a long walk out to the shoreline, half a mile or so and got the kite flying but the wind had picked up even more. Could barely walk backwards and I was on full depower; any little gusts that came through would whip me a few ft in the air. Not ideal when im still in the early stages of kitesurfing.
Scrambled my way on the water and got going. Was a bit hard at first controlling the power but eventually got going in the flats and tried edging upwind.
A few other lads were there as well learning and a few others were pullin of some awesome moves. As the tide filled in, some more lagoons got exposed with some lovely shallow flat water which was ideal for me. Felt I had progressed loads, Conditions couldn't be any better and definately my best session to date. 3.5 hours of kitesurfing. What a day!
